Leather & Suede Care & Cleaning Information
A leather/suede
garment should not be dry cleaned unnecessarily. We would normally advise
against dry cleaning for the first 2/3 years, unless excessive soiling
makes this absolutely essential.
Unlike fabric garments,
leather and suede do not benefit from the cleaning process and it should
be understood that the garment cannot be returned looking "as new" !
During the cleaning
process, dirt & grime is removed from the skin and inevitably this
process also removes a certain amount of the substances used in the production
to dye & soften the skins and on occasions, adhesives which may have
been used in the manufacture.
Colour and softeness
can be replaced so that the garment can be restored to as near its original
condition as possible. Damage to the finish due to heavy wear/friction
however is irreversible. Attempts to restore such areas of the garment
cannot be as successful as on undamaged finish and paler colouring may
be noticeable.
